Rebranding ribbon-cutting ceremony

In Pearl, Miss., Rivertrust FCU held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate its name change from Mississippi Telco FCU. Four of the local Chambers of Commerce were in attendance: Rankin Chamber, Flowood Chamber, Pearl Chamber and Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership.

Millionaire's Club debuts

Tower FCU, Laurel, Md., sponsored its first Millionaire's Club financial education experience at Northeast High School, Pasadena, Md.

Nonprofit donation

As part of a multi-year commitment, Taunton FCU, Taunton, Mass., donated $2,000 to Pro-Home, Inc., a Taunton-based nonprofit housing counseling agency. The commitment provides a total of $6,000 in donations to the agency over a three-year period.

Desjardins honors

Clackamas FCU, Milwaukie, Ore., received an Alphonse Desjardins Youth Financial Education award from the Northwest CU Association for its financial education program. During the 2016-2017 school year Clackamas spent 119 hours in classrooms teaching financial education.

New branch and family fun day

League City, Texas-based Associated CU of Texas celebrated its new branch in nearby Alvin with a ribbon-cutting and a family fun day. Both events were attended by members of the community, and allowed the new Alvin branch team to introduce themselves.

Charity Cow Plop

Merck Sharp & Dohme FCU, Chalfont, Pa., raised $20,000 for Sebastian Riding Associates and The Shepherd’s Shelf. Each charity received half of the proceeds from the 18th Annual NBCF Charity Cow Plop.

Supporting breast cancer awareness

Indiana Members CU, Indianapolis, donated $5,841 to Pink Ribbon Connection in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Hurricane relief donation

American Eagle Financial CU, East Hartford, Conn., donated more than $3,200 to United for Puerto Rico to help with relief efforts following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

It's paid for!

Align CU, Lowell, Mass., awarded a $3,000 grand prize in the Win Car Payments for a Year Contest. The contest was a partnership between the CU and radio station 92.5 The River. The grand prize winner was randomly selected from all eligible contest entries received.

$10,000 for hurricane relief

Ideal CU, Woodbury, Minn., held a two-week drive to raise funds to help areas in the Caribbean devastated by Hurricane Irma. The CU pledged to match up to $2,500, but when more than $5,000 was donated, the board voted to double the match to $5,000, resulting in a $10,000 donation to the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions.
