CEO On Radio Football Show
EL PASO, Texas-Ken Walters, CEO of evolve FCU, is joining local sports radio host Steve Kaplowitz this football season as part of ESPN El Paso's "Lock of the Week" contest, in which football fans can play to win new TVs by picking the NFL team they believe is a "lock" to win that week. Once selected, the participant may not pick that team again during the season.
CEOs Named At 4 CUs
CERRITOS, Calif.-The $180-million POPA FCU has named Raymond Bartus as its new CEO. Bartus had been serving as interim CEO. In Waterville, Maine, Health First FCU has named Lynda Quirion as president/CEO, succeeding Debi Pomeroy, who retired after nearly 25 years. In Yellow Springs, Ohio, COO Sandra Hollenberghas been promoted to CEO of $14-million YS Credit Union. And in Oxnard, Calif., $400-million CBC FCU has named Patrick Miller president and CEO. Miller, who is currently VP for Navy FCU's 220-branch network, succeeds Ray Ewin, who retired after 28 years.
UTFCU Members Save $644,000
TINTON FALLS, N.J.-United Teletech Financial CU said that members have now saved $644,000 in interest expenses toward its Million Dollar Community Challenge, which runs through Sept. 29. That promotion encourages members to save via its "TimeShifter" mortgage and its "Cut The Card" personal loan. UTFCU will make donations to four local charities once the million-dollar goal is reached.
CU Foundation Nominations Open
MADISON, Wis.-The National Credit Union Foundation is seeking nominations for three board seats, including two credit union executive or director seats and a system affiliate seat. Catalyst Corp. Marks 1st Anniversary
PLANO, Texas-Catalyst Corporate has marked its first anniversary after being created by the consolidation of Georgia Corporate and Southwest Bridge Corporate. Catalyst has 1,230 CU members and $150 million in capital.
E&A Named To 101 Best List
PORT HURON, Mich.-E&A Credit Union has been named as one of "Metropolitan Detroit's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For." The list is determined by an independent research firm that measures each company's entry on a variety of key metrics. It is sponsored by several media outlets and other local companies, and run by the Michigan Business and Professional Association.
Astronaut Featured On Card
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.-Purdue University has a new face for its alumni credit card: Eugene Cernan, the last man on the moon. Cernan replaces alumnus and NFL quarterback Drew Brees, who had a three-year contract with PUFCU. The new Visa credit card features a picture of Cernan walking on the moon in 1972, and also includes a TV spot.
7 People Named As I-CUDEs
MADISON, Wis.-The Credit Union Development Educator program and the World Council of Credit Unions have named seven people as International CU Development Education (I-CUDE) designees.
They are: Sharon Angus, Angela Hampson, Mary Henderson, Alan Hignett, Robert Kelly, Edwina Sykes and Kevin Waters of the United Kingdom; Mercedes D. McGowan Named Exceptional Leader

League Wins Silver Quill Award
