SCRANTON, Penn.-Due to financial problems in this city, Tobyhanna FCU is offering City of Scranton employees a "holiday" on loan payments that allows them to skip their monthly loan payments for the months of July and August.
Morin New CEO At Ocean Communities
BIDDEFORD, Maine.-Ocean Communities FCU has named Judy Morin as its new CEO. Morin was previously VP-financial services with the $140-million CU, and has been with the credit union for 25 years.
eCO Wins Parent's Choice Award
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-eCO Credit Union has been named a Parent's Choice Award winner by Birmingham Magazine and Alabama Baby and Child Magazine. More than 4,000 survey respondents participated in the awards program. eCO Cu was named Parent's Choice Award recipient for Best Financial Institution in Birmingham, with special recognition for its children's accounts and for its recent added FORWARD>>> Accounts for young adults.
Apple FCU Outstanding Citizen
FAIRFAX, Va.-Apple FCU has been named by the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce as winner of the 2012 Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Year Award among mid-size businesses. Apple was one of six finalists nominated in the category for the award which honors businesses that have demonstrated exceptional leadership and have excelled in their efforts to better the community through social responsibility.

ALBANY, N.Y.-The Credit Union Association of New York has honored the following people: Outstanding Professional, Linda MacFarlene, CEO of Columbia-Green FCU; Outstanding Young Professional, Heather Wood, Financial Center Manager at AmericCU Credit Union; Outstanding Volunteer in the $50M-$250M in assets category, Anthony DiAcetis, Jr. of Community Resource FCU; Outstanding Volunteer in the more than $250M assets category, James G. Suriano of Sidney FCU. Meanwhile, John Prumo, CEO of GPO FCU, was recognized for being inducted into Credit Union House's Hall of Leaders.
Scott CU A Top Place To Work
ST. LOUIS-Scott Credit Union has been ranked fourth in a list of Top Workplaces among medium businesses in the St. Louis area by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Companies were named to the list based on confidential surveys filled out by employees. SCU said it has "focused for the past few years on improving employee morale and making the credit union the best place to work."
Travis Named Best In County
VACAVILLE, Calif.-For the fifth year in a row, Travis Credit Union has been named by the Vallejo Times Herald as the Best Credit Union in Solano County in "The Best of Solano County 2011-12" competition. Travis was selected based on reader feedback.
St. Cletus Joins Affinity Group
PONTIAC, Mich.-Affinity Group Credit Union said that St. Cletus CU, Warren, Mich., will be absorbed via merger but will continue to operate under the unique model used by AGCU in which the merged CU maintains its brand. St. Cletus CU is the fifth CU to partner with Affinity Group CU, creating a $155-million institution serving 21,000 members. SCCU will continue to serve members of St. Cletus CU.
TN FCU Absorbing MAFCU
BOSTON-TN FCU is absorbing the operations of take over the operations of the $72-million MAFCU as part of a merger. MAFCU's two branches will be known as the Medical Area Division of RTN. The combined CU will have $725 million in assets.
CUs Say They Are Exploring Merger
ST. HELENS, Ore.-St. Helens Community FCU said it is exploring a merger with Wauna FCU in Clatskanie, Ore. The two CUs issued a statement stressing discussions are purely exploratory at this point.
2 To The Board of CO-OP Financial
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif.-Shruti Miyashiro of Orange County's Credit Union and Benson Porter of BECU have joined the board of CO-OP Financial Services to complete the terms of two retiring members.
Miyashiro is replacing Rick Craig of America First Credit Union, who is retiring, for a term extending to 2015; and Porter is replacing Gary Oakland of BECU, who is also retiring, whose term extends to 2014. Both new members took office effective July 1.
Porter is also succeeding Gary Oakland as CEO of BECU.
