PHILADELPHIA – Sb1 FCU, the one-time SmithKline Laboratories credit union that recently converted to a community charter, opened a new branch in the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

“Our move to the new location allows us to continue to serve our original sponsor, GlaxoSmithKline, as well as to conveniently serve the Navy Yard population,” said Tom Swierzy, president of the $560 million credit union.

The credit union converted from a multiple group charter a year ago to a community charter serving about 640,000 residents in the city of Philadelphia.
