SAN DIEGO – San Diego County Credit Union said it is relaunching its person-to-person payment service under a new name, Popmoney.

SDCCU is telling its members they have a way to “Pay Other People” (POP) with a greater ability to send and receive funds to and from other financial institutions anywhere in the world.

In addition to using an e-mail address or a mobile phone number, SDCCU said its members can complete financial transactions using their checking and/or savings account number without the traditional banking requirements. New features include the ability to send an e-greeting to recipients, add multiple e-mail addresses and mobile phone numbers, and the use of a centralized dashboard showing deposited payments and payment requests.

“Our electronic person-to-person payment service, Popmoney, is the easiest way to send money to friends and family. Plus, as with all of our convenient eServices, Popmoney is highly secure, which provides peace of mind to our members,” said Teresa Halleck, San Diego County Credit Union’s president and CEO.

Popmoney is part of SDCCU’s Bill Payer Plus, which it said is a secure transaction service with the latest anti-fraud technology, and meets regulatory and security standards. Popmoney is offered to financial institutions across the U.S. by Fiserv, Inc., a provider of information management and electronic commerce systems for the financial services industry, and CashEdge, maker of the Intelligent Money Movement platform.
