WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A Salvation Army employee in Highpoint will have her rent paid for the next year as winner of the Truliant FCU and FOX8 (WGHP) “Mortgage for a Year” contest, which awarded either mortgage or rent payments for 12 months.
Patricia Shue was notified while working at her job. “This assistance from Truliant will help my family and me in so many ways. I hope to save these monthly rental fees to be able to purchase a home within the next year, as well as, help my granddaughter attend college,” she said.
“We know that owning your own home is one of the greatest joys for any person, but we also understand how monthly mortgage or rent payments can sometimes become a demanding financial responsibility,” said Marc Schaefer, president of the $1.6-billion credit union. “We are happy to alleviate this responsibility for Patricia for the year, and hope that she will use the extra money to continue to build a strong financial foundation for herself and her family.”
To enter, members had to go to the “Pay My Mortgage or Rent for a Year” links on the FOX8 and Truliant’s Facebook pages and “like” both. Participants could gain extra entries by sharing and posting the link on their own Facebook page. For every four friends they get to enter through the contest link posted on their Facebook page, they obtained another entry.
The contest ran from Nov. 7 to Nov. 25, and the final winner was chosen on Nov. 26.
