EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – In one of the biggest credit union donations ever, Royal CU pledged this morning to contribute $1 million to help fund construction of a new Community Arts Center.
The credit union gift will be paid over five years and will be used to help build the new center, including naming rights of the 450 seat theater.
The new arts center, part of the Confluence Project, will be located across the Eau Claire river from the Royal CU Corporate Center and is a collaborative effort of public/private partnerships. The partnership will construct a new public Community Arts Center, with a private commercial/retail complex and University of Wisconsin student housing. It will showcase the local arts scene, cultivate emerging creative talent and could serve as a catalyst for revitalization in the south Barstow district.
“As corporate citizens, we feel our participation in this collaborative project is necessary and are looking forward to playing a key role in the cultural expansion of Eau Claire” said Rudy Pereira, president of the $1.3 billion credit union.
The 150,000 square foot performing arts center will be made up of three theaters, a professional art gallery and public commons area. Next door, restaurants and shops will share space with university student center
