DULUTH, Ga. – ATM maker NCR Corp. said that its third-quarter net income more than tripled to $58 million, as it benefited from acquisitions and strength across most of its businesses.

Revenue rose 5.5% to $1.44 billion, from $1.36 billion a year ago.

Operating income in its hospitality segment jumped to $23 million, from $5 million a year ago. Part of the gain was because of the benefit of its Aug. 24, 2011, acquisition of Radiant Systems.

Its retail solutions unit had operating income of $28 million, up from $19 million a year ago.

For the first three quarters of the year NCR reported an 11% rise in revenues to $4.09 billion, and a doubling in net income to $168 million.
