MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – A police officer was rushed to the hospital this morning after he was shot by one of two suspects fleeing an armed robbery at Lennox Employees CU.

The suspects, one of whom was shot by the downed officer, were captured son after the shooting, which occurred shortly after the 9:30 am robbery.

Police said the gunfight erupted while the two suspects were fleeing on foot after the heist. One of the suspects turned and shot the officer, striking him in the leg. The officer returned fire, striking the suspect. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated at the local hospital.
