SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Northwest Community CU has submitted a proposal to officials in Eugene to buy a 1.8-acre city-owned plot and develop it into a new headquarters for the $720 million credit union.

The property is located east of the U.S. Courthouse and is currently home, in part, to a community garden.

“We’ve been searching for a location that offers a key hub to extend our growing statewide branch network. To that end, we’ve developed several options for linking our West Eugene and two Springfield locations,” said John Iglesias, president of the credit union, in an announcement to employees.

Membership in the one-time Weyerhaeuser credit union is growing by about 10% this year, with three new branches recently opened in Oregon.
