SAN DIEGO–The $5.7-billion San Diego County CU has posted exceptional numbers since Bank Transfer Day, with Executive Vice President ofMarketing and Business Development Nathan Schmidt noting its numbers are roughly three times better than that of the credit union community as a whole.

“We extrapolated the nationwide membership growth in the first six months of 2012 to see where it would end up as of September,” he explained. “That number is 93.8 million, or a 2.12% increase from December 2011. Our total number of members as of Dec. 31, 2011 was 224,729. As of Sept. 30, 2012 it was 238,789, a net increase of 6.26%.”

San Diego County CU has introduced a number of new and/or improved products and services in the past year, Schmidt noted, including free checking with e-statements, and SDCCU Mobile Deposit.

“For 13 years in a row, we have won the title of Best Credit Union by the readers of the San Diego Union-Tribune,” he said. “In addition, for the past three consecutive years, we also won the Best Home Loan Provider, Best Financial Planner and Best Place to Work. For these and other reasons, big bank customers continue to choose SDCCU.”
