ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The NCUA Board is scheduled to vote next week on one of the broadest community charters before it for the past few years, a request by BMI FCU to serve about two million residents in the greater Columbus, Ohio, area, the state capital.

The $380 million Dublin, Ohio-based credit union was chartered in 1936 to serve the Battelle Memorial Institute, which is now the world's largest nonprofit research and development organization, with over 20,000 employees at more than 100 locations. The credit union also serves more than 200 select groups.

The NCUA Board will also vote at next week’s monthly meeting on a proposed acceptance deadline for credit unions applying for low-income status.
