Montana credit union heads into new year with new name
One Montana credit union is closing out 2020 with a new identity.
McCone County Federal Credit Union has rebranded as Grasslands FCU, effective Nov. 15. The new name comes on the heels of an October merger with Fallon County FCU, and a statement from the credit union indicated that a new brand identity was needed in order to “connect all members of the many communities" where the CU has a presence.
McCone County FCU significantly widened its field of membership over the course of the last decade. In 2013 it expanded its FOM from one county to six and in 2018 broadened it to 13. The $82 million-asset shop currently serves over 3,500 members.
The Grasslands name is intended to help drive growth and broaden the credit union’s reach across a variety of communities.
“We are joined together as a community by our choice of the grasslands region that we call home” Emily Guldborg, manager and CEO of Grasslands FCU, said in a press release. “It made sense to move to a name that represented not only our original core county, but was inclusive of our other 12 counties. It also helped us solve the misperception that we only offer membership to those in McCone County.”
Grasslands FCU posted nearly more than $569,000 in net income during the first three quarters of 2019, down from nearly $611,000 it earned during the same period last year.
