LAKELAND, Fla. – MIDFLORIDA CU said this morning it contracted with Western Union to offer its members global money-transfer and expedited bill payment services across its 30 branches, the third billion-dollar plus credit union to sign with Western Union in the past two weeks.

The pact follows recent deals between Western Union and Iowa’s Veridian CU and Alabama’s Redstone FCU two weeks ago.

"Western Union services will allow MIDFLORIDA members a reliable and convenient method of moving money from place to place and person to person," said Michael Cheeseman, senior vice president for the $1.7 billion credit union.

Through the agreement with Western Union, MIDFLORIDA members will have the ability to send and receive domestic or international money transfers with funds accessible for pay-out at more than 500,000 Western Union Agent locations in more than 200 countries and territories, and make urgent payments conveniently and quickly to an extensive biller network.
