FERN PARK, Fla. – A member of Fairwinds CU shot dead a robbery suspect Friday night after the suspect and an accomplice tried to rob him at the ATM outside the branch.

The member drove up to the ATM in his pick-up truck around 10:20 pm when two men armed with knives walked up and tried to rob him, so he pulled out a gun and shot one of them twice, according to police. The other one ran away.

The wounded suspect, identified at Justin Slivinski, 24, was taken to Florida Hospital Altamonte where he was pronounced dead.

The other suspect, 19-year-old Austin Harvey, was arrested Saturday after a citizen provided a tip to authorities. He was charged with attempted armed robbery and homicide because of his accomplice’s death.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said the credit union member was not hurt and will not face charges. His name was not released.
