NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) and its CUSO subsidiary, ICUL Service Corp. (LSC), said they have named Tom Kane as president and CEO, effective immediately.

Kane had been serving as interim CEO since May 26.

"We are excited to elevate Tom to president/CEO," said Pete Paulson, ICUL & LSC board chairman, in a statement. "With his relationships inside and outside the organization, knowledge of the [credit union] movement and wide range of experience, Tom is uniquely qualified to lead the Illinois Credit Union System."

ICUL noted that over the past twelve years Kane served as executive vice president of both the league and LSC, where he led the operations, finance, information technology, and administrative functions and also functioned as the organization's chief security officer.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this organization, which does such a great job of serving credit unions in Illinois and across the country," Kane said. "It's a privilege to lead such an experienced and effective team focused on the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people.'"

In a career spanning more than three decades, Kane has also served in senior positions at Aon Corp., Quaker Oats and the Central Intelligence Agency.

"Throughout his career, Tom has demonstrated the ability to be a successful and innovative leader. Even more importantly, he's a great fit for serving credit unions and we look forward to the energy, commitment, and values Tom will bring to his new role," Paulson added.
