CHARLESTON, S.C. – Two men were arrested after a robbery and shooting at Heritage Trust FCU in Walterboro last Friday after a Global Positioning System tracking device was inserted in the bag of cash they absconded with.

Ramone Drew, 19, and Dante Drew, 23, each face charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and receiving stolen goods in connection with the heist.

The men, whose relationship was not immediately known, entered the credit union around 10 a.m., according to an incident report. One of them pointed a handgun as they both ordered employees to the floor and demanded money.

The robbers left with a bag of cash, in which a GPS device was placed. Officers pursued the getaway car beyond city limits, where one of the car’s tires blew, according to police. When the getaway car came to a stop one of the men ran, but was soon caught. The other was found in the car.

Authorities said the two men made of with $11,000.

Neighbors reported a single gunshot, and the police found a bullet hole in the Mazda’s rear window. But the authorities have not clarified who fired the shot.
