MADISON, Wis. – The Credit Union Executives Society has named Martin D. Gillis, board chair at Windsor Family Credit Union in Windsor, Ontario, as the 2012 CUES Director of the Year.

Gillis will be honored during an awards celebration at CUES’ Directors Conference in December in Palm Desert, Calif.

Gillis is being recognized for his more than 36 years of experience in credit unions. Among his many contributions to WFCU, Gillis led total asset growth from $40 million in 1986, to more than $900 million as of May 2012.

Meanwhile, five CU directors will be inducted into the CUES Volunteer Hall of Fame during the awards ceremony. They are: Leroy Harvey of Generations FCU in San Antonio; Gigi Porcelli of Bethex FCU in Bronx, N.Y.; Linda Slupe of ICON Credit Union in Boise, Idaho; Charles Smith of First New York FCU in Albany; and, John Weidert of First Technology FCU in Palo Alto, Calif.
