HAMPTON, Va. – Authorities are hunting for a man convicted with three others of a 2008 armed robbery of a Navy FCU branch who escaped prison Tuesday just three weeks after beginning a 14-year sentence.

Michael Stanback, 28, escaped from a recreational area at a correctional facility sometime Tuesday afternoon. Investigators are still trying to determine what time Stanback disappeared.

Police say he is considered dangerous.

Stanback and three accomplices robbed the credit union on Nov. 6, 2008. Officers in pursuit were able to locate the getaway car, where they recovered the stolen money from the back as well as three handguns they traced to Stanback and the other suspects.
