FAIRBORN, Ohio – Eight months of saving and trimming household expenses paid off for a Miami Township couple who won $10,000 and $1,500 of closing costs for a new home in Wright-Patt CU’s Savings Race 4.

Ray and Bridget Allen crossed the finish line last week in first place by exceeding every goal in the race that helps lead them to a dream home.

During the race, five tams worked with credit union coaches and community housing partners to collectively increase their general and home savings by more than $60,000 and reduce their debt by over $73,000.

This year, the teams focused their efforts on saving to buy their first home and three of the teams will close on their own home within the month.

Each of the savers were winners, with the grand prize family earning the $10,000 prize and all other competitors $2,000.
