ORLANDO, Fla. – NCUA has barred a former collections manager at McCoy FCU from the credit union industry for her conviction on charges of embezzling $167,000 of vehicle insurance checks paid to the credit union.

Giovanna Liranzo, who served as assistant vice president of collections from 2005 through 2009, deposited the funds into three separate accounts at the credit union under different names, then used the money for her own personal finances, according to court records.

Liranzo was sentenced to 15 months in prison, three years supervised release and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $161,125.
