TEMPERANCE, Mich. – The former manager and sole employee of tiny United Catholic CU pleaded guilty this morning to embezzling $2.1 million from the now-failed credit union, which never claimed more than $500,000 in assets, over more than 20 years.

Sharon Broadway, 61, faces up to 20 years in prison when she is sentenced Jan. 17.

The credit union, on the Ohio border, was closed in August by state regulators when irregularities were detected.

NCUA has filed a civil suit seeking $6 million in damages from Broadway, because state law allows them to seek treble damages in the case.
