COLUMBIA, S.C. – Lucky students at the University of South Carolina are looking for “The Garnet Ticket” in the daily campus newspaper, the Daily Gamecock, a 13-week promotion enabling winners to exchange the ticket for $100 in cash from Carolina Collegiate FCU.

The contest, modeled after the Golden Ticket made famous in the children’s movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, is promoting the credit union’s new on-campus branch.

“We were looking for a unique way to create excitement within the student community for our new branch on campus” said Anne Shivers, president of the $80 million credit union. “We knew that this was not a ‘build it and they will come’ kind of project. We needed to get students talking about us.”

The new branch is located at the University’s Russell House and is managed by students.
