HOUSTON Cardtronics has agreed to acquire i-design, a British firm that designs advertising for ATM screen, for $13.4 million.
Cardtronics has a two-year relationship with i-design, under which it incorporates the company’s joono targeted marketing software for use on Cardtronics ATMs.
The companies said the software enables financial institutions, retailers and advertisers to communicate with their members/customers through multiple channels, including traditional ATMs and advanced functionality financial kiosks.
Founded in 1991, i-design has developed advertising and marketing software that has been installed on 30,000 ATMs in deals with several banks in Canada and Britain. It also sells advertising space.
“At Cardtronics, we gravitate to opportunities and environments where the company can draw multiple sources of revenue from a single ATM by providing additional services,” said Steve Rathgaber, CEO of Cardtronics.
