BETHPAGE, N.Y. – Bethpage FCU has pledged a $100,000 donation to the United Way’s Operation Live United Military Family Assistance Project, which provides Long Island veterans the necessary assistance they need to live, work and raise their families.

In addition to its $100,000 contribution, Bethpage said it will sponsor various veteran events throughout the year to extend additional support. To date, these include the Islip Art Council “Salutes Armed Forces of the USA” concert featuring the Long Island Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, July 14 at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, NY; a “Night Out” at Bethpage Ballpark that invites military families to a Long Island Ducks game; and the Town of North Hempstead’s “Salute to Veterans” breakfast to be held in the fall.

The $4-billion credit union, New York’s largest, also announced today its support of the United Way’s newly formed Veterans Hiring Program, a job placement program that Bethpage and other local businesses will support to help secure employment for returning Long Island veterans.
