HOUSTON – JSC FCU here has disaffiliated from CUNA and the Texas Credit Union League.

CUNA and the Texas CU League each confirmed for Credit Union Journal that the $1.7-billion credit union has ended its affiliation with the two organizations.

“We respect the credit union’s decision, but of course we believe the CUNA/league system offers a unique set of strengths to our movement,” said CUNA spokesperson Pat Keefe. “We plan to remain in contact with the credit union’s leadership with the hope that they will re-affiliate in the future.”

TCUL President CEO Dick Ensweiler added, “We respect the decision made by the executives at JSC. We feel strongly that our league offers a full slate of services, from legislative and regulatory advocacy to training and compliance support, which benefit every credit union in the state. It’s our hope that in the future the leadership for JSC will reconsider affiliation.”

JSC CEO Michael Brown could not be reached for comment.
