Repair and restore
As part of a community service event earlier this year, more than 100 employees of American First Credit Union visited Boys & Girls Clubs in the Fullerton, Calif., area to repaint, repair and restore facilities there.
Tagging hunger out
1st United Credit Union donated $12,250 to a local food bank as part of its sponsorship of the Oakland A’s Homeruns for Hunger program. This is the eighth year the credit union has sponsored the initiative.
Dorian relief donation
Space Coast Credit Union donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross in support of relief efforts for Hurricane Dorian, which hit the Bahamas. A separate fund established to accept donations from members and staff raised an additional $13,000 in just two weeks, bringing the CU’s total donation to $38,000.
Jeans for Reason donation
White Rose CU donated more than $470 to four different organizations during Q2 through its Jeans for Reason program, including Crispus Attucks Special Olympics (pictured here) and more.
A helping hand
Members and staff at SESLOC Federal Credit Union in San Luis Obispo, Calif., raised more than $4,500 during August to support Jack’s Helping Hand, an area nonprofit that benefits children with special needs and their families. This fundraiser was part of a five-year effort to raise $35,000 to build Jack Ready Imagination Park, which the CU described as a universally accessible playground.
Sharonview Federal Credit Union in Fort Mill, S.C., donated $2,500 to Habitat for Humanity of Your County.
Grand-opening celebration donation
Hanscom Federal Credit Union donated $1,000 to Freedom House, a local youth-enrichment organization, during a grand-opening celebration for the credit union’s South Bay branch.
Financial Plus Credit Union in Flint, Mich., raised more than $5,200 to benefit Hurley’s Breast Cancer Patient Navigation Program during the institutions annual Pink Night Palooza bake sale.
America First Credit Union partnered with the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center for a wellness event and a UNLV college football game (pictured here) as ways to help survivors of the Oct. 1, 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas.
Services Center 'Lives United'
Services Center Federal Credit Union raised $1,500 for the local United Way chapter by placing special drink coasters at four local businesses throughout Yankton, S.D., in August and September, and donating $5 per coaster to the United Way of Greater Yankton for every one brought back in to the credit union.
Police appreciation donation
Members First Credit Union in Manchester, N.H., donated $7,500 to the Manchester Police Athletic League. The CU sponsored the group’s 13th annual Footrace for the Fallen 5K, which honors police officers in the community who have died.
American Eagle Financial gives back
American Eagle Financial CU donated $4,000 to three different area nonprofits as part of a ribbon-cuing celebration for its newest branch.
