Building food security
The Security Service Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation is helping Utah residents with food security thanks to a $10,000 donation the foundation issued to a local community resource center. The foundation is an arm of Security Service Federal Credit Union in San Antonio, Texas.
St. Mary's Bank awarded $12,000 worth of scholarships to 12 recipients. The Manchester, N.H.-based CU received over 115 applications.
WFCU Credit Union awarded $20,000 to community groups that work on programs within four categories: quality of life, health and wellness, cultural and community, and support and information.
Santa Clara, Calif.-based KeyPoint Credit Union supported a local food pantry by presenting the Milpitas Food Pantry with a $1,000 check.
Members of the TowerCares Foundation board of directors presented a check to the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center during the 37th Annual Tower Classic Golf Tournament. The foundation stems from Laurel, Md.-based Tower Federal CU.
East Hartford, Conn.-based American Eagle Financial Credit Union donated $5,250 to high schools in four different counties.
Higher education awaits
New England Federal Credit Union of Williston, Vt., awarded three $3,000 scholarships to three young adults pursuing higher education.
Employees of Sharonview Federal Credit Union, based in Fort Mill, S.C., sported some red noses on Red Nose Day. The CU also donated $1,600 to Comic Relief, an organization that aims to alleviate childhood poverty.
Six college-bound students received scholarships from Sharon Credit Union. Each student received $2,500 from the Sharon, Mass.-based CU.
