Fighting off floods
United Federal Credit Union, based in St. Joseph, Mich., donated $5,650 to the American Red Cross to assist those affected by flooding earlier this year.

Lawrenceville, Ga.-based Peach State Federal Credit Union made a donation to the Salvation Army of Gwinnett.
Scott Credit Union has joined Glen-Ed Sports Association to help finance a turf soccer field. The Edwardsville, Ill.-based institution provided $320,000 to help fund the new field.
Credit Union of Texas announced a local advanced placement chemistry teacher as a the recipient of the Dallas-based institution's scholarship contest. Each year, CUTX awards $20,000 to a teacher or administrator in the Dallas Independent School District who wants to pursue an advanced degree in education while continuing to serve the district.
Helping the homeless
Fort Mill, S.C.-based Sharonview Federal Credit Union presented a $2,500 check to Charlotte Family Housing, a shelter-to-housing program.
Carson City, Nev.-based Greater Nevada Credit Union received recognition from the Louisiana Economic Development as the state's United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development Lender of the Year. The credit union has received the award multiple times.
Here to help
Dorchester, Mass.-based Boston Firefighters Credit Union donated $100,000 to help out local police and fire departments. The donation was the result of funds the credit union received following a payout from the merger of the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund and the Temporary Corporate Credit Union Stabilization Fund.
