Helping fill hungry bellies
Alaska USA FCU raised $93,500 in its annual Cash for Cans food drive, benefiting 24 food banks across Alaska, California, Washington and Arizona. SECU gets recognized
Officials from State Employees’ Credit Union in Raleigh, N.C., and the SECU Foundation were honored with the Governor’s Award for Excellence during a special ceremony at the North Carolina Museum of History.
Staff from Kellogg Community Credit Union participated in the CU’s annual team enrichment day, volunteering for the United Way of Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region by putting together first aid kids, blankets and more to be donated during area homeless outreach events.
The CUNA Operations and Member Experience Council and CUNA Technology Council hosted a silent auction during their September conference that raised $14,000 to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.
Teaming up for financial education
Belco Community Credit Union hosted a financial reality fair for 45 students at the Loysville Youth Development Center. Representatives from various Pennsylvania state agencies and other community organizations were on hand to assist.
Connex Credit Union in New Haven, Conn., donated $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven as part of the ConnexCares program, which is focused on improving the lives of consumers in the communities the credit union serves.
Golf tourney gets results
The RTN GoodWorks Foundation, from RTN Federal Credit Union in Waltham, Mass., raised $27,000 during its 2019 golf tournament. The proceeds will help support the foundation’s community projects and financial education efforts.

Sharonview FCU donated $25,000 to help keep Head Start buses running in Lancaster County, S.C.
A dose of reality
Juniors and seniors at William Tennent High School took part in a financial reality fair from Fort Washington, Pa.-based TruMark Financial Credit Union. Students selected a career, salary and more, and participated in exercises to learn about housing costs, budgeting and more.
