CU at the Rose Festival

Unitus Community CU, Portland, Ore., served as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2018 Portland Rose Festival, the fourth consecutive year the CU was Presenting Sponsor. Separately, Unitus gave $500 each to 2 participants in the Money Quest online financial learning program.

Jeanne gives back

Jeanne D’Arc CU, Lowell, Mass., held its eighth annual We Share A Common Thread Foundation Fundraiser, raising more than $60,000 to support the Foundation’s mission: providing assistance with food, shelter, clothing, health and education. Separately, 350 Lowell High School seniors got a reality check at the CU’s 8th annual MoneyStrong for Life Fair.

Miriam's House donation

Member One FCU, Roanoke, Va., donated $1,000 to Miriam’s House to support its mission of providing stable housing to women and children who have experienced homelessness. The donation was a result of Member One’s quarterly Denim Days for Charities, during which employees donate money in exchange for wearing jeans on a specific day.

Crane supports kids

Crane CU, Franklin, Ind., supported the Riley Children’s Foundation by offering employees the opportunity to wear jeans each Wednesday in exchange for a $5 donation. The CU also encouraged members to donate. The CU matched all donations from employees, with the total donation from the CU, employees and members totaling $2,745.55.

Honoring Vegas police

The Succession Capital Alliance held its 10th annual Advanced Premium Financing Conference at The Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas. A joint donation of $10,000 from the SCA and Penn Mutual was given to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to honor their service.

Rivermark Community expands

Rivermark Community CU welcomed the opening of its new Cedar Hills branch in its headquarters city of Beaverton, Ore. The new branch is located in the Cedar Hills Crossing shopping center.

Supporting Hi-Q

New Horizons CU, Mobile, Ala., served as sponsor of the Mobile County School System’s Hi-Q tournaments, which gather together 14 high schools to compete academically.

Golfing to give back to vets

Mountain America CU, West Jordan, Utah, is supporting local veterans as Platinum Sponsor of the Idaho Tour of the Veteran Golfer’s Association. The VGA is dedicated to enriching the lives of veterans and their family members through the game of golf.

Help for the hungry

America’s Christian CU, Glendora, Calif., partnered with First Christian Church to sponsor the 15th annual Empty Bowls Soup Supper Benefit. A total of 224 bowls were purchased, resulting in $6,300 donated to aid those in the local community in need of hunger relief.

Corporate partners

RTN Federal Credit Union, Waltham, Mass., received the 2018 Corporate Partner Award at the Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association’s Red Ribbon Gala and Scholarship Awards. Separately, RTN hosted 17 teenagers for a Basics of Money Management class.
