You can learn a lot outside of the office

Simplicity Credit Union in Madison, Wis. places a great deal of emphasis on career development and educational opportunities for its 87 employees, explained Katy Zaleski, VP of human resources. To this end, each manager at the organization has a career development/training budget and works with their team on what training sessions they would like to attend.

“We have regular coaching sessions with our teams to discuss career development, training opportunities and goals,” said Zaleski. “If a Simplicity team member is interested in career development in a different department we work with them on a mentorship for that department.”

“Individuals remain confidential, but the issues are brought up and follow-up is critical,” she said. “We also have four focus groups comprised of staff from all departments and branches looking at career development, benefits, branch expansion and products and services.”
